Character: can be revealed by comments of author and other characters.
  • Protagonist: central character in the plot's conflict
  • Antagonist: the force in conflict with the protagonist

Character development shows the traits and behaviors that give the literary character the complexity of a human being.
  • A flat character has only one side.
  • A round character has many traits--we know that character so well he or she becomes a real person. Round characters are usually considered an indication of literary quality.
